Toy Story 3 Movie Review

What supposedly was the breakout comedy of the summer turned out to be the ironically tearjerker movie for me. I can't deny that Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 really made me cry, and among the 3, my fave is the last.

Toy Story 3 is the realization that Andy has finally grown up and that the gang is uncertain of their future. While Andy is getting ready for college, the toys are getting ready to face their future, whether it be with or without Andy.

The movie still has the funny lines, real moments of suspense (for awhile i thought they were really gonna burn), crazy antics, emotional outburst and the strong narrative. Both kids and adults can relate and would love the movie. It's a masterpiece that would touch your heart, make you laugh, value friendship, and makes you experience life.

I lost my friend's iTouch

It happened all so fast, before I left the house it was just another ordinary day for me. Wake up, eat, go to work, work then for home. But after my LRT Ride it all changed.

My friend lend me her iTouch for my BF to update it, and since its 32G there were more songs than in my iPhone, so I opted to use it this morning in going to work. I usually use my mp3 that looks like ipod shuffle pero nagsasawa na ako sa mga songs dun.

It was like a monday morning rush at Monumento station. Three trains passed by before i can ride, I thought "pag hindi pa ako sumakay dito, ma-le late ako" and I dont want that to happen. So I worked my way up the train door and after a few bumps, left and right, i was inside the train.. with music still in my ears. I used the iTouch before i boarded the train. After i was able to have a pwesto inside the train, I felt that napigtas yung headset sa iTouch and so nung kukunin ko na yung iTouch sa bag, i was surprised na wala yung iTouch. Then it hit me, $#3t! It's not there! The scene then became fuzzy, then after a minute all the people around me are looking at me, i suddenly created a commotion.

People around me started telling me similar stories that happened to them and to some. Then after R. Papa, somebody went down. Then the people all agreed that it was HER, the person that went down. “Ang hirap hirap nga sumakay sa Monumento eh, tapos sa R. Papa ka lang pala baba.” That’s what they said. The girl infront of me told us that it was the same woman who was about to get her iTouch also before. Lagi daw niya nakakasabay sa LRT yun. Before the woman went down, she even looked at the girl infront of me. But sympre the girl in front of me didn’t tell us that coz ayaw naman daw niya mag judge. And I have to agree with her, we don’t even have proof.

There goes, my friend’s iTouch.

Moral Lesson: I shouldn’t have used it in the first place. If I hadn’t used it, this wouldn’t happen. I wouldn’t have lost my friend’s iTouch.

This is a first time for me, and I’d have to say it really happened all so fast. :-(

Eastwood Cinema in 3D!

Eastwood Mall now opens its cinema with 3D last May 19, 2010. With all the other cinemas going digital, Eastwood made it special using the Christie Solaria CP2230 Digital Cinema Projector, the brightest digital cinema projector in the Christie Solaria series. It was indeed so bright even with the 3D glasses! The cinema holds 215 seating and tickets can be bought at P350.00 (comes with popcorn and drink)

The launching of the Eastwood 3D cinema was made more awesome as Shrek Forever After was shown among the many first in the world.

The invited guests enjoyed the cocktails before the movie and the movie itself, Shrek Forever After. There was even a free photo meet and greet with Shrek outside the cinema.

SM Cinema's BIG SHOT

SM Cinema's search for the best independent film makers in the country, “Big Shot”, was launched last May 5, and is set to revolutionize the Philippine film industry. The launch was simultaneous with the special screening of Bakal Boys, an indie film about children metal divers, supported by Apogee Productions, San Beda College, and the Aquino Foundation.

The screening was graced by the presence of respectable personalities like Fr. Aloysius Maranan, San Beda College Rector; Apogee Production's Mr. Albert Almendralejo; and Mr. Rapa Lopa of the Aquino Foundation. During his speech, Mr. Lopa emphasized the role of the cinemas as innovative venues for social awareness.

As everyone appreciated the well-applauded execution of Bakal Boys, Mr. Allan Florendo, SM Cinema's Sales and Marketing Head, went on to encourage the guests to join “Big Shot” and be a part of Philippine movie history.

Big Shot is open to all aspiring student film makers from any reputable college or university. From June 15 to August 15, participants may submit their best works which can be a short film or a full-length movie. SM Cinema will then choose the top three (3) movies, and will award P500,000 each to the top three film makers. These film makers, with the help of renowned mentors, will each produce a full-length movie about “modern day heroism”. SM Cinema will show these movies during its Indie Film Festival on January 2011, right after the Manila Film Festival.

Sykes HR, best team ever!

We celebrated our HR Team Building at MMLDC together with Legacy ICT HR team. It was the first team building with the two teams together. We were not able to push thru with our team building last year because the date that was set for out EK team building was the day Ondoy was made known.

The day started with breakfast at the Areva Pavillion, then derecho sa Orientation headed by Bea and JV. It didn't turn out to be a simple day for us. It was an action packed day for someone who is just sitting all day face to face with a computer or a pile of papers and is cuddled by the air-conditioned office. Haha!

The games were cool! Some were easy and fun, and others were just hard to strategize.

Soar and Dive - There will be a puzzle to be complated, 6 members will get 1pc when they go up the tower and will dive in the zip line to meet the other members of the team.
Goal: must complete the puzzle with the shortest time.
Game Level: EASY.

Group Picture - Team members will have 3 poses to reflect the theme FUN... US ONE, and will choose one best picture to represent the team.
Game Level: not that EASY

Though it All - 9 team members will go thru only one hole in the web the shortest possible time. Game Level: EASY
Puzzle Crawlers - 3 members will find the puzzle pieces hidden in the sand, 3 members will transport the puzzle piece to the 3 members who will form and finish the puzzle.
Game Level: HARD (no one finished the game)

Walk The Talk - 6 members will walk blindfolded inside the swamped mazed guided by the leader.
Game Level: EASY

The last game was FLIP SIDE, 10 members will be stepping on a carpet and slowly they will have to flip the other side of the carpet while they are on it.
Game Level: HARD!

Processing: The games were EASY, Medium and HARD! But we were all able to make it, enjoyed playing it and had FUN! All the teams enjoyed the game because they had fun while playing it and the there was no diversion even though it was the first time for some to meet. They listened to each other and cooperated with one another. At the end of the day, it was really FUN... US ONE!

Adidas Originals Street Party

Adidas Originals celebrated Indviduality through its Street Party held at Venice Piazza Mall Open Park in Mckinley Hill last May 7, 2010.

The Street Party campaign is a call to action, an invitation to reclaim the street in celebration of the raw spirit of creativity and Originality. It celebrated the roots of authenticity and Originality at its core - the street, the very place where Originality comes to life as artists, athletes, musicians, and creative innovators are inspired to create.

The program was hosted by Mia, Slick Rick and Sam YG.

The Adidas 2010 Sports Collection that herald the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The Japanese streetwear deisgn in the OT-Tech range, Iconic collaborations with French Grafitti artist fafi and cinema Icon Star Wars fashion collection.

It was a night filled with almost everything you will see on the streets - foods such as barbecues, hotdogs, and fishball; dancers, beaboxers, painters, skate boarders and foosball players, even street magician! Attenders of the Street party were not only treated with free food but also with free drinks! Free stuff includes Hena Tatto, face Paint and personalized Adidas shoes (for those who brought their own pair)

This sense of play continues in the adidas Originals theme throughout 2010 as adidas highlights collections that reflect what makes adidas Orginals truly unique: a diverse mix of styles and stories, collaborations and creativity.

Best Street Party! Thanks Khit!

Vote and DOugh your part - Krispy Kreme

Tomorrow is the highly anticipated ELECTION DAY. The streets are already filled with campaign posters and commercial of candidates have been in constant since the national campaign period started. The limelight has been on who to vote tomorrow, May 10, 2010. But what about HOW TO VOTE?

For the first time in the country, an automated voting system will be used by registered voters for the upcoming elections. A mock election conducted by COMELEC showed that some voters did not know where and how to cast their ballots. Efforts from various sectors like on-air commercials are being made to be able to reach out to the voters in introducing it - and KRISPY KREME is one of them.

KRISPY KREME devised a way to help spread awareness on how to vote on May 10, 2010. When you go to any of their stores you will be handed a sample ballot as their order sheets, so when you order you just shade the oval of the doughnut and drink of your choice and viola you're done! "This will help them prepare for the real, automated voting system." Mark Gamboa, Marketing Manager of Krispy Kreme said. So when you vote on May 10, its just like ordering doughnuts, but instead of food you'll see candidates names.

Other than sharing the knowledge, the mock ballot Krispy Kreme that was created will also encourage people to actually exercise their right to vote. Krispy Kreme also produced limited edition Krispy Kreme VOTE 2010 doughtnuts that will be available from May 8-10.

You may visit any of the following Krispy Kreme Branches: Bonifacio High Street, Greenhills Shopping Center Drive-Thru, SM Mall of Asia, Trinoma Cinema Level, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia Drive-Thru, Ayala Avenue, Robinsons Galleria, Gateway Mall, Glorietta 4, SM City Annex (North EDSA), Annex 2 SM Fairvew, Eastwood, Marquee Mall Pampanga, SM San Lazaro & SM Manila or call 0917-8053000. Also, be sure to log on to www.krispykreme.com.ph and be a Friend of Krispy Kreme to get updates.

The Iron Man 2 Movie Review

I always thought that book/comic based movie is an epic fail of the book itself. But there are some movies that proved my study wrong. Iron Man, though based on the Marvel comics character of the same name, is great action packed movie that's one of the exception of my synthesis. The first Iron Man movie was released last 2008 and the sequel this year. The movie is more that awesome and is highly recommended to watch. There, 'nuff said.

The Bounty Hunter Movie Review

The Bounty Hunter is a light and feel good movie. After watching the movie, it actually got me into thinking that even though two people have grown apart and if they are meant to be together, there will always be ways and situation that would draw them closer to each other.

Everybody wants to be a SUPERHERO!

This Summer, a new breed of superheroes will be revealed!

Teen geek and comic book fanatic Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) makes a totally bizarre but brave decision--- he is going under disguise as a superhero, minus the superpowers. And he’s going to be known as Kick-Ass. Donned in a green and yellow wetsuit bought online, he prowls the city to fight crime. However, he’s not the only superhero out there. The fearless and highly-trained father-daughter crime-fighting duo Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) have been slowly but surely taking down the criminal empire of local Mafioso Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong). Another fledgling superhero joins them by the name of Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who happens to be Frank’s son.

KICK-ASS is based on the comic book of the same name written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. When Mark pitched his story to Matthew Vaughn, director of the blockbuster film Stardust, the latter was impressed and immediately agreed to direct the movie and write the screenplay with Jane Goldman, also his co-writer of Stardust. Vaughn and Goldman were keen that their movie wouldn’t simply be a carbon copy of Millar’s book hence the back-story of Nicolas Cage’s character Big Daddy.

Cage was offered the choice of playing Frank D’Amico or Damon Macready, a.k.a. Big Daddy, and responded strongly to the latter. He says, “I thought that was where the heart was, in the relationship between Big Daddy and Hit Girl. I thought that’s where the emotion could be.”

While Cage got his role easily, it took time before Aaron Johnson landed the role of Dave/Kick-Ass. Vaughn had turned down his audition tape without viewing it, but when the director finally watched it, he was certain Johnson was perfect for the role. “My take on it was he was a young lad, a comic book fan, who was shy with girls. He doesn’t have a whole lot going for him, so he tries to stand out from the crowd by becoming a superhero, and that’s when he becomes interesting,” Johnson says. “It’s teenage high-school humor mixed with dark, messed-up violence,” he adds.

The Red Mist character went to Christopher Mintz-Plasse after he read for the role of Dave. “I guess I had too much energy and charisma!” he laughs. Red Mist is a rich, but lame kid who desperately wants to garner the affection of his father. He may not be superhero-material, but Red Mist definitely makes a grand entrance with his red Ford Mustang, which he uses to cruise the streets of New York. One of the movie’s funniest scenes had Kick-Ass and Red Mist drive along while dancing. “We were just messing around with it,” says Johnson, “Sitting there and doing a ridiculous dance. It was hilarious. Matthew was like, ‘I might actually use that’. And he did!”

For Chloë Grace Moretz, the role of Hit Girl was something of a gift. “I was screaming for three days straight when I got the role because I was so much looking forward to doing a fantasy movie and wearing a superhero costume.” Everyone agrees that Hit Girl is the superhero who puts the kick-ass in KICK-ASS. Scene after scene, Hit Girl mows down scores of D’Amico’s henchmen like an unstoppable squirrel that’s armed to the teeth. “I did about four to five months of training before the movie started. It was crazy. I did a thousand crunches a night and like 70 push-ups and 70 pull-ups.” The training also involved getting to grips with Hit Girl’s weapons, including her favorite, a butterfly knife. “It’s like a third hand,” she says. “By the end of the filming,” admits Johnson, “she could take me and Chris on at once, and take us both down. She became a mini-Schwarzenegger!”

See the cool gang of four do some nasty stunts in KICK-ASS as it hits theaters on April 16. Released by Viva International Pictures.

Check out my movie review here.

FOX, the world’s number one U.S. series channel, has launched its latest science-fiction television series Flash Forward via an exclusive press screening to selected members of the media and FOX trade partners at Manila Ocean Park’s White Moon Bar last April 5, 2010. The invited guests were treated to unlimited drinks at the bar and pica pica foods while waiting for the exclusive screening of the first director's cut episode of FlashForward. FlashForward, a big budget sci-fi series in the tradition of Lost, follows the life of a group of people determined to figure out the mystery behind the event that caused the entire world population to pass out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds and gets a vision of the future.

The first director's cut episode of FlashForward aired for around 1hr and we immediately followed the second episode on FOX as it was the 2-hour premiere at the same time. It was the highest rated new show last fall season, the show is very edgy and anyone who likes action and sci-fi that likes fast paced. No particular star to look out to because the stars have already made their names already in other fox shows brought by Disney.

TV series fanatics would definitely love the impressive visual effects, the same production element that attracted 12.5 million viewers when it was launched in the US. Catch FlashForward every Mondays at 10pm only on FOX Channel (Sky Cable Channel 50).

Next Run is for Home

My first run for the year was the Century Run wherein I was able to talk to Derek and asked him what he thinks about running. Running has always been my sport (because im afraid of the ball and i cant swim) and my release of stress. Now, it is not only a sport but also an activity even for the whole family to enjoy. People run and join races because they are now health conscious and its a really cheap exercise.

This coming March 21, 2010 - Run for Home is back!

The Ayala-Globe Run for Home 2010 is a charity fun run that aims to raise funds for the beneficiaries of Habitat for Humanity. Last year, runners and health enthusiast was able to raise more than 1M for the Habitat for Humanity. It's a chance for us to help and a rewarding way to get healthy. Plus get to update your race status instantly via the ChampionChip!

Check the details of the run below:

John Lloyd Cruz's "Ingat Ka" Moments on the Big Screen

So how does multi-awarded actor and Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz show his love?

In his lovable portrayal of his characters – whether as Popoy in “One More Chance” or as Miggy in “a Very Special Love” & “You Changed My Life,” John Lloyd consistently shows an innate sensitivity.

“With every character I assume, I hope that the character’s heart lives in me,” says the 26-year old star in an interview for a local showbiz talk show. And it is this palpable empathy on-screen that translates to his real-life off-screen, as well--most evident perhaps in the way he ensures that for both himself and his loved ones, only the best and safest will do.

As endorser of popular headache and fever reliever brand Biogesic, it's clear he has taken to heart his famous catchphrase “Ingat!” “It’s hard being sick,” the actor shares at a time when he was under the weather. And given the taxing nature of his work and the demands of his career, he prizes the value of good health more than ever. That’s why he takes Biogesic at the first signs of headache or fever that might get in the way of his performance. “It’s a nice feeling endorsing one of the brands you truly believe in," the celebrity says.

As the number one brand prescribed by doctors for headache and fever, Biogesic can be taken even before meals. And just like John Lloyd who trusts the brand, so does millions of Filipinos.

For 4 years in a row, people listened and viewed John Lloyd as he spoke about the benefits of having Biogesic by his side. And as the brand grew more in popularity along with the wholesome actor, John Lloyd knew that endorsing Biogesic for Kids, the brand’s line specially made for children, would be a wise move as well. After all, his mom would give him Biogesic for Kids when he was young to relieve him of his fever.

Whether on-screen or off, Biogesic’s endorser John Lloyd Cruz knows: only the best and safest will do. And so to the millions of Filipinos who look up to him and eagerly wait for his film and TV projects— including his latest on-screen offering “Miss You Like Crazy”--John Lloyd expresses his gratitude and concern by bidding them all a heartfelt “ Thank you and Ingat!”

Check out my movie review of their latest movie, Miss You Like Crazy.

Derek Ramsey on Running

It was a good chance for me to ask Derek what he thinks of Running since he endorsed the Century Tuna Run. This is what he has to say.
