Columbia Pictures has just launched the second trailer of its upcoming action-thriller “Total Recall” which can be viewed here.
Directed by Len Wiseman (“Underworld”), the film stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho and Bill Nighy.
“Total Recall” is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale by Philip K. Dick.
Synopsis: Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs.
But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Nighy) and stop Cohaagen.
The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

“THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN” Swings to Cinemas in 3D
Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “The Amazing Spider-Man” was shot in 3D, and for the filmmakers, it is a key choice.
“3D isn’t right for every movie, but 3D was made for Spider-Man,” says producer Avi Arad. “It is another way we have of keeping the audience immersed in the storytelling. You see the world through his eyes and you feel like Spider-Man – the exciting moments are even more exciting. But what might be surprising is that 3D makes the intimate moments more intimate as well – I can think of some scenes that are quite emotional that are even more emotional in 3D. It’s a perfect choice for this movie.”
“We wanted to put people in Peter Parker’s shoes and Spider-Man’s shoes in this film, to let them experience the thrills themselves. What better way to do that to enhance the reality than through 3D,” notes director Marc Webb. “It’s the ideal format to allow the audience to viscerally experience the quality of moving through space, flying through the air, swinging through Manhattan.”

Rufus Sewell plays Uber Nasty Vampire in “ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER”
Seth Grahame-Smith’s historical and mythical fruition “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” adapted into film by acclaimed filmmakers Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton introduces Honest Abe (played by Benjamin Walker), America’s 16th president as a vampire slayer who is pitted against Rufus Sewell’s Adam, the movie’s main vampire antagonist.
Adam’s character didn’t appear in the original book but, in the writing of the screenplay, evolved out of a need to create a key focus for Lincoln’s fight. Adam, played by Rufus Sewell, is a creature of almost limitless power. “I see him as a kind of president of the vampires, “adds Sewell.
Author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, who created the character especially for the film, as its central villain, was attracted to the idea of someone who has existed for untold millennia. “I wondered what it would be like to live for hundreds of thousands of years – to have been around since the building of the pyramids,” says Grahame-Smith. “What kind of personality would emerge from that eternal existence?”

Andrew Garfield as THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN
“Peter Parker is a hero, not a superhero,” says Andrew Garfield, who takes on the iconic role in Columbia Pictures' eagerly anticipated 3D action-adventure, “The Amazing Spider-Man” which focuses on an untold chapter that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story. “He’s already good before the spider bites him. After that, he gets the power to act on what he already knows is right.,” the actor adds.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” is the story of Peter Parker, an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to OsCorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

DREW BARRYMORE Plays RACHEL IN KEN KWAPIS’ BIG MIRACLE
Drew Barrymore embodies versatility, having added to her status as one of the film business’ most popular leading ladies by becoming a successful producer and director.
In her new movie Big Miracle she plays Greenpeace activist Rachel Kramer. Rachel is what you would call an extremist. She will go to any lengths to stop big oil companies from harming the environment, including showing up uninvited at meetings with a bull horn. When Rachel (reporter Adam's ex-girlfriend) finds out about a family of trapped gray whales, she turns all of her attention to getting them freed.
Born in Culver City, California, into a revered family of actors that includes, among many others, her grandfather John Barrymore and grand-uncle Lionel Barrymore, she started performing in commercials before her first birthday. At age six, she was chosen by director (and godfather) Steven Spielberg to co-star as Gertie in his (at the time) small-scale feature E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. Once the film was released to overall acclaim in 1982, the young actress had instantly become a movie star.
As a longtime animal and human rights activist, she is devoted to such causes as the United Nations World Food Program (for which she was chosen to serve as an Ambassador Against Hunger) and the ASPCA, among many others.

Dance the Shuffle with Sid in “ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT”
Teeming with boundless energy, catastrophic creativity and defying continental odds, Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) is back with his best friends Manny the mammoth (Ray Romano) and Diego the tiger (Denis Leary) along with Scrat in the latest adventure for all in “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift.”
While the earth is being subdivided into seven continents due to Scrat’s misadventures, Sid’s long-lost family suddenly appears. Sid is excited when his relatives arrive, seemingly happy to be reunited with him. But they leave just as quickly as they came, intentionally ditching his crotchety Granny (Wanda Sykes). Granny is inadvertently swept out to sea with the trio, making Sid’s job surviving the adventure that much harder when he must take care of her every need along the way.
“Sid’s a lovable guy and always wants to do things his way, which often leads to catastrophe,” says John Leguizamo, who once again brings his unique vocalizations and performance to the character. This time the catastrophe – his Granny – has come to him. “Sid has long wanted to be reunited with his family because everyone seems to have a family but him,” adds Leguizamo. “And all of a sudden, here they are. They’re with him, and then they’re not -- leaving him with Granny.”

Scrat's Earth Changing Chase in “ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT”
Forget what you’ve learned in geology about the continents forming as a result of massive tectonic turbulence and volcanic eruptions tearing land masses apart. “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift” reveals that these seismic shifts came about from Scrat’s misadventures.
Two million years ago, one global-shattering event changed everything. Scrat, the world’s most lovable prehistoric squirrel-rat is about to rewrite history in “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift.” The film reunites us with Scrat as he’s going about his usual business: he has grabbed the acorn, set it down on the ground – and suddenly a mountain is torn apart and the earth itself opens up, separating land masses into the seven continents. Scrat hurtles toward the earth’s core, triggering massive earthquakes, which in turn isolates Manny, Diego and Sid from the rest of the herd. Scrat’s continental crack-up has cast adrift Manny (voiced by Ray Romano), Diego (Dennis Leary) and Sid (John Leguizamo) from the rest of the herd, including Manny’s beloved wife Ellie (Queen Latifah) and their teenaged daughter Peaches (who was born in 2009’s “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” and is voiced by music-actress Keke Palmer).

The Dark Side of ERIN WASSON IN “ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER”
Texas-born supermodel, designer, entrepreneur and actress, Erin Wasson plays the ruthless, sexy and evil vampire Vadoma in “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” directed by renowned Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov.
The thrilling film delivers an entirely original twist to the story of the iconic American president. Vampires are re-imagined as evil bloodthirsty slave traders and Lincoln (played by Ben Walker) is portrayed as a master at killing the supernatural creatures. In this fantastical action-packed movie, the iconic leader Abraham Lincoln has a secret life alongside his presidential duties: hunting the undead. Rooted in historical fact that is blended skillfully with a fictional supernatural tale, Lincoln is portrayed as a man who was essentially the first superhero.
Ben Walker gives a powerful performance as President Lincoln. The film also stars Dominic Cooper as Henry, a high living ladies’ man who saves his life and instructs him on the art of vampire hunting. Rufus Sewell portrays Lincoln’s vampire nemesis Adam, commander of the vampire army. Erin Wasson plays the gorgeous vampire, Vadoma, Adam’s chief lieutenant and bodyguard. The film is based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s bestselling novel.
Wasson sinks her teeth into a deliciously meaty and malevolent role – following is her q&a on her thoughts on beauty, fashion, martial arts and vampires.
Q: What kind of vampire is Vadoma?
A: “She is a woman of few words, a woman of action who is on a mission, she is very straightforward. She’s a really strong, powerful woman who is very talented and good at what she does. She’s a skilled assassin.”
Q: Can you explain what these assassins are doing at this point in US history?
A: “The slaves are our food; we’re trading slaves to keep us (the vampires) alive. The vampires are living off the blood of the slaves.”
Q: What kind of costume do you wear?
A: “The interesting thing about Vadoma’s costume is that the color palette consists of shades of red, crimson and deep purples. She always wears a hat and sunglasses during the day. She is a woman on the move. She spends her day on horseback so the costumes have to be practical. She definitely has a dark side.”

EMMA STONE is GWEN STACY in THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN
Fast-rising star Emma Stone plays Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s first love and more importantly, his first real connection to the world around him, in Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure, “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
It’s a very different relationship from the one that audiences might be more familiar with. “I feel like Mary Jane fell in love with Spider-Man. Gwen falls in love with Peter Parker,” Stone explains.
In the film, Stone’s Gwen -- a high school valedictorian, all-round brainiac and head intern for Dr. Curt Connors at OsCorp -- comes to the fore as the girl who helps Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker keep his feet on the ground even as his tremendous powers let him soar through the sky.
“She’s his confidante,” says Stone, who returned to her natural blonde hair for the role, a far cry from the redhead she’s sported through most of her movie career. “She’s the only one who knows that he’s Spider-Man, which is kinda great. And the nice thing is that Gwen falls in love with Peter first. She loves the boy, in spite of him being Spider-Man, rather than the other way around.”
And, as the romance between the high school sweethearts blossoms, Gwen, whose father, Captain George Stacy (Denis Leary) is the police chief charged with finding Spider-Man and bringing him to justice, finds that her life just may be in danger.
“Getting involved with Peter is the first irresponsible thing she’s ever done. She knows that this boy is dangerous and there’s probably some complex about her father having a dangerous job,” admits Stone. “It’s her first time really standing up to her father and doing something he wouldn’t approve of. She has her whole life planned out and Peter really changes that for her. You’re going to see Gwen experience being out of control for the first time.”

Mashup Author SETH GRAHAME-SMITH’S “ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER”
The untold story that shaped America’s nation based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” literary fusion of history and fiction will soon be seen onscreen come July 4 in 3D and 2D cinemas nationwide.
A non-stop mad search for both the hunted and the hunter, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” stars Benjamin Walker who plays the titular role of Abe Lincoln resurrected onscreen as a vampire hunting politico who later became one of the world’s most influential president.
Adapted for movie by highly-regarded genre-bending filmmakers Timur Bekmambetov (directing) and Tim Burton (producing) , the birth of Smith’s pulsating book came about in 2009 Seth Grahame-Smith was on a US book tour to promote a new “mash-up” fiction book, “Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.” As he travelled the nation's bookstores, from state to state, he noticed two things. In the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth, every store had a promotional table set up with biographies of the iconic president. And at the height of the popularity of TWILIGHT, every store would stock a range of Young Adult vampire fiction right next to it. He remembers thinking, “if you could combine the two, surely you'd be onto a winner.”
“It began as a cynical observation, to be honest with you,” he admits. When I read about and researched the actual man, I became fascinated and fell in love with him and his trials and tribulations. Throughout his life he had every disadvantage: no wealth and no connections. He was poor as dirt, and surrounded by death. And yet, by the power of his intellect and his determination he was able to not only achieve the impossible of becoming a lawyer, but to become the leader of a nation tearing itself apart. And then he went on to save that nation.”
In fact it was, he suspects, the very first superhero origin story. “I began thinking that in the American psyche there's really no greater superhero than Abraham Lincoln.”

New Releases of THE CAMPAIGN Posters
Warner Bros. has just released two new U.S. posters for its upcoming comedy “The Campaign” starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.
Directed by Jay Roach, “The Campaign” also stars Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott and Katherine LaNasa, with John Lithgow, Dan Aykroyd and Brian Cox. The election comedy bows in the Philippines this August.
In the film, when long-term congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naïve Marty Huggins (Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center.
At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors’ support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family’s political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about.

The Untols Story of Peter Parker Begins with “THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN”
Spider-Man returns to the big screen for the untold story of Peter Parker in Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb. Screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets.

As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
In beginning a new chapter in the Spider-Man saga, it was important to the filmmakers to show a side of Peter Parker that moviegoers haven’t seen before.

John Krasinski plays “ADAM” in Ken Kwapis’ Big Miracle
John Krasinski, best known to American audiences as Jim Halpert on the hit television show The Office. In Universal’ Pictures ‘Big Mircle he plays Adam Carlson a television reporter who lived in the city at that time, but as an amalgam of small-town news people who served to tell the human elements of the story.
Even though signing on would mean multiple trips between the set of his television series and Anchorage, Krasinski believed it was worth it to work again with director Ken Kwapis. The filmmaker had directed him in License to Wed, as well as many pivotal episodes of The Office. “Ken is a phenomenal person,” commends Krasinski. “He did the pilot of our show and many of the important episodes, including the first time I said ‘I love you’ to Pam. He’s been there emotionally in a lot of stages of my life as an actor, as well as a person growing up in front of the camera. He has that rare gift to be not only in tune with you but also with the whole movie.”
The producers were pleased to bring him onto the production as a character who would discover the story and be at the center of the story’s romantic triangle.
When Barrymore heard that Krasinski was a candidate to play Adam, she advocated bringing him onto Big Miracle. “I remember calling Ken from the San Francisco airport,” she says. “I was screaming down the hallway that I’d do anything to do this movie with him. He was perfect for the role, as he is wholesome, funny and a good guy, just like Adam. Even though the film is rooted in the environmental and political aspects of the whale rescue, there is also a love triangle that had to work among me.”

President by Day, Vampire Hunter by Night - Abraham LIncoln
“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” tweaks history onscreen as America’s most iconic and beloved president Abraham Lincoln is portrayed as a vampire slaying powerful political figure of his time.
Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of “Wanted”) bring a fresh voice to the bloodthirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history's greatest hunter of the undead.
Taking the role of the multi-faceted Lincoln in the movie as politico, husband and the person he became when his mother died at a young age is stage actor Benjamin Walker who has also appeared in Clint Eastwood’s “Flags of Our Fathers” and in the movie “Kinsey”.

Director Marc Webb Talks about “THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN”
Given his surname, you might think that it’s inevitable that Marc Webb would end up directing a Spider-Man movie. But the 37 year old would be the first to admit that he’s something of a leftfield choice to oversee this latest iteration of the friendly neighbourhood webslinger, with The Amazing Spider-Man representing only his second film, following 2009’s hit romantic comedy, (500) Days Of Summer.
That movie’s wry humour, flashy setpieces and focus on characters, though, persuaded The Amazing Spider-Man producers, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and the late Laura Ziskin that Webb was their Spider-director. And Webb has risen to the challenge, with an earthy, grounded aesthetic that sees the webslinger’s legendary story take place in a very recognisable universe: ours.
We caught up with Webb in his Culver City editing suite, and talked to him about his decision to get involved with the project, the challenges of making Spider-Man swing, and finding Andrew Garfield...
How did you get involved with The Amazing Spider-Man?
I was meeting with these guys [Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach] and they brought up the idea. I was meeting with them on something else and I thought it was totally ridiculous. I said, I don’t make movies like that. They said, that’s why you should do it.
This is a new version of the Spider-Man story. How different is it?
There’s so much to tell in terms of who this kid is. My favourite thing about Spider-Man, is Peter Parker, the fact that he’s a kid from Queens who’s not a billionaire and he’s not an alien. He’s a kid who has the same problems we all do and that makes him intensely relatable. Spider-Man becomes wish fulfillment for that, flying through the air and beating up bad guys, but that all emanates from what Peter Parker would dream of, whether or not he was Spider-Man. To me, I wanted to start from a place where it felt like, if you walked into the theatre, that it was the same universe you lived in, and ground that both aesthetically and emotionally, which is difficult when you have a giant lizard running down the street.
How did you approach the scenes where Spidey is swinging through the city?
It was important for me to not just see Spider-Man swinging away from afar, but to be with him and feel that. We went to New York, near Columbia and Harlem and built a travelling rig system. We have motion capture elements that are there to create a sense of realism, weight and physical realism that we’re still working on and will be working on until the day before the movie comes out. It’s about expanding the universe, where you earn the spectacle of Spider-Man’s abilities.
