“PITCH PERFECT 2” Teaser Trailer Takes a Bow

Universal Pictures has unveiled the teaser trailer of its highly awaited comedy “Pitch Perfect 2” which may be viewed here.



The Barden Bellas are back in “Pitch Perfect 2,” the follow-up to the original smash hit. The comedy is helmed by Elizabeth Banks, co-star and producer of “Pitch Perfect,” and produced by Paul Brooks, Max Handelman and Banks. Writer Kay Cannon returns to the team to pen the next chapter.

The film stars Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Ester Dean, Hana Mae Lee, Hailee Steinfeld with John Michael Higgins, Katey Sagal and Elizabeth Banks.

“THE FAULT IN OUR STARS” Align on June 5 in Cinemas

The phenomenal young-adult tome “The Fault In Our Stars” penned by John Green is brought to life on the big screen produced by blockbuster producer Wyck Godfrey (“Twilight” films) and directed by Josh Boone (“Stuck In Love”).

                Written for the screen by the creative minds of Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (“500 Days of Summer,” Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”), “The Fault In Our Stars” features two of today’s most followed young actors – Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort as extraordinary teenagers who fatefully meet and takes their love on an unforgettable and exhilarating journey into infinity. 

                Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) is sixteen years old.     Even before the novel was published, Hollywood came calling.  But Green was reluctant to sell the movie rights.  “I felt the story was so personal and close to me I just couldn’t imagine it being turned into a movie.”

WARNER BROS. RISES TO $1-B AT INT'L BOX OFFICE IN RECORD TIME

Division Crosses Threshold For 12th Consecutive Year

On the heels of its strong overseas opening of Dark Shadows and the momentum of its first quarter releases, Warner Bros. Pictures has surpassed the $1 billion threshold in overseas box office in less than five months, surpassing its 2010 Studio record by ten days. This marks the twelfth consecutive year the Division has grossed over $1 billion overseas, beginning in 2001. The announcement was made today by Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Studio hits this high water mark as it gears up for a full slate of highly anticipated titles later in the year, including Adam Shankman's Rock of Ages, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, Ben Affleck's Argo, and Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The Division enjoyed a strong start early in the year with the continued overseas success of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, which grossed $257 million in 2012 ($357 million total international box office). This was followed by impressive grosses on the 2D and 3D releases of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island ($222 million) and Wrath of the Titans ($218.3 million). Released in some territories day-and-date with the U.S., Dark Shadows has already grossed $37.3 million, with many markets yet to open. Earnings from 3D venues reached $324 million, representing nearly a third of the Division’s cumulative gross for 2012.

“Our success thus far this year would not be possible without the ingenuity of our filmmakers, and the hard work and dedication of our teams around the world,” Kwan Vandenberg said. "These remarkable results demonstrate the continued strength of the international business, particularly in rapidly expanding overseas markets and in 3D.”

Warner Bros Pictures International has been the market leader in six of the previous 11 years. The Studio has surpassed $1 billion at the international box office a total of 15 times, with four of those years exceeding $2 billion, including 2011. The studio earned $2.87 billion internationally last year, and was the number one studio in Europe.

Eva Green is a vengeful with in DARK SHADOWS

Eva Green (“Kingdom of Heaven,” “Casino Royale”) stars as Angelique Bouchard, a witch who knows how to hold a grudge, in Warner Bros.' new black comedy “Dark Shadows.”
In the film, Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp), an 18th-century lothario, breaks the heart of a heartless witch by the name of Angelique. When Barnabas declares his love for another, the ethereal Josette (Bella Heathcote), Angelique exacts her revenge on both of them: taking Josette’s life while giving Barnabas an eternal one as a vampire. It’s not much of a life, however, as she proceeds to bury him in a coffin forever…or at least the foreseeable future.


“Director Tim Burton kept asking, ‘What if there was this tremendous fight brewing between this man and woman, who each have supernatural abilities, for 200 years?’” screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith remembers. “And that’s basically what we see towards the end of the film, the tension that has been brewing for the entire movie—sexual tension, financial tension, physical pure hatred of each other. I mean, after all she did lock Barnabas in a box for two centuries!”

DJANGO UNCHAINED cast seen at Summer of Sony Event!

The personal appearance of the cast of Columbia Pictures' new epic adventure “Django Unchained” was one of the major highlights of the “Summer of Sony” event, held recently in Cancun, Mexico.

Gracing the event were Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington and Quentin Tarantino, who wrote and directed the film.

Screenwriter John Orloff says he had been fascinated by the Shakespeare authorship question since first learning about the controversy as a 25-year-old graduate student 20 years ago. “My first thought was, ‘Why had no one told me this?!’” he says. “My second thought was that this would make a fantastic film. It had everything – murder, sex, lies, betrayal – truly the stuff of Shakespearean drama.”

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS” HOLDS SNEAK PREVIEWS SEPT 19 & 20

Acclaimed as one of the year's best romantic comedies, Columbia Pictures' “Friends with Benefits” will have whole-day sneak previews on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 19 & 20, in selected theaters everywhere.

From the director of “Easy A,” the film stars Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis as liberal singles Dylan and Jamie, respectively, who think it will be easy to add sex to their friendship, but they discover that getting physical always leads to complications.

Timberlake notes, “Our characters meet each other in that time where they’ve both recently split up from other relationships and we’re both in that headspace where we kind of want to just be single.”

Mila Kunis saw her character Jamie as someone who “believes in true love and believes that Prince Charming is out there and is desperately seeking that.” Jamie doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve, though. “She’s a typical New Yorker,” laughs Kunis.

With Dylan working hard to establish himself at a new job in a new city and no time to pursue life’s more frivolous aspects, and Kunis’ Jamie meeting too many “nice” guys who turn out to be not-so-nice, the two come to an agreement asserting mutual benefits without the emotional complications of dating. ‘Cause after all, everyone has physical needs, they convince themselves. New Rowdy Comedy "Bad Teacher"

Columbia Pictures pulls up a raunchy female comedy which may turn out to be Hollywood’s next hot genre, as opposed to raunchy comedies headlined by male actor.  The movie Bad Teacher stars Cameron Diaz as the ruthless middle school teacher being pursued by a co-instructor/gym teacher Jason Segel, but wants to win over Justin Timberlake because of his money. 

In the film, Elizabeth Halsey (Diaz) is a teacher who just doesn’t give an F. She’s foul-mouthed, ruthless, and wildly inappropriate.  She drinks, she gets high, and she can’t wait to marry her meal ticket and walk away from her day job teaching middle school. When she’s dumped by her fiancé, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute (Timberlake) – competing for his affections with an overly energetic colleague, Amy (Lucy Punch) – but finds herself fighting off the advances of an irreverent gym teacher (Jason Segel). Elizabeth’s outrageous schemes and their wild consequences will shock her students, her coworkers, and even herself.

RIO Movie Review

RIO is a 3-D animation feature from the makers of the Ice Age films. Set in the magnificent cit of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, the comedy-adventures centers on Blu, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there's another - and that she's a shee - he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio.

But it's far from love at first sight between the domesticated and flight-challenged Blu and the fiercely independent, high flying female, Jewel. Unexpectedly thrown together, they embark on an adventure of a lifetime, where they learn about friendship, love, courage and being open to life's many wonders.

I was invited to watch the movie premiere of Rio last Saturday at Glorietta. I enjoyed the film soo much! I felt like I was 8 yrs old again. It was a good experience watching a film with kids surrounding you with their laughter. Too bad Nathan wasn't able to join us.

Rio centers on Blu, voiced by Jesse Eisenberg and Jewel (Anne Hathaway) the last two macaw who is destined to save their species. It was a very heartwarming story, good for the kids and kids at heart. Director Carlos Saldanha concocts a sparkling view of scenic Brazil, because of his passionate advocate from his hometown. I also like the soundtrack, soo much! The danceable beat of Will.I.am and Jamie Foxx made the theatre grooving throughout the movie. I bet the kids are so amused with the songs and even the dance! The dubbing is superb also, plus the singing! I have never imagined Brazil to be that b-e-a-u-tiful. Wow! Make me want to go to Brazil to see for myself the beautiful sky and peaceful sea.

CARS 2 - New Characters!

Disney/Pixar reveals the new characters in the upcoming animated adventure “Cars 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to 2006’s blockbuster “Cars.”

Shu Todoroki is a Le Motor Prototype racer representing Japan and bearing #7 in the World Grand Prix. Shu was raised at the base of the active Mount Asama volcano in Japan, and soon became a champion on the Suzuka Circuit. His sleek design sports a fiery red Ka-Riu dragon, which Shu borrowed from Japanese legend because he relates to the small, yet fierce nature of the dragon.

Acer has always felt like an outcast in the car world. The beat-up green AMC Pacer joined forces with fellow “lemon” cars as henchmen for the devious Professor Z, whose clandestine mission is to wreak havoc at the highly visible World Grand Prix. 

 

Known as the “World’s Greatest Rally Car,” #6 Raoul ÇaRoule was born in Alsace, France. A restless soul, Raoul joined the famous ‘Cirque du Voiture’ French circus where he learned Gymkhana – a graceful, drift-filled motorsport that taught him pinpoint timing and an unparalleled ability to navigate tricky courses with ease. Finn McMissile is a master British spy. SNEEK PEAK "UNKNOWN"

Academy Award® nominee Liam Neeson (“Schindler’s List,” “Taken”), Diane Kruger (“Inglorious Basterds,” “Troy”) and January Jones (TV’s “Mad Men”) star in the contemporary thriller “Unknown.” 

In the film, Dr. Martin Harris (Neeson) awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (Jones) suddenly doesn’t recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by mysterious assassins, he finds himself alone, tired, and on the run. Aided by an unlikely ally (Kruger), Martin plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he’s willing to go to uncover the truth.

The film also stars Aidan Quinn (TV’s “The Book of Daniel”), Bruno Ganz (“The Reader”) and Oscar® nominee Frank Langella (“Frost/Nixon”).



The film was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (“Orphan”), from a screenplay by Oliver Butcher & Steve Cornwell, based on the novel Out of My Head by Didier van Cauwelaert.

The movie Gulliver's Travel is an adaptation of the 17th century novel by Jonathan Swift. The book tells of the adventures of Captain Lemuel Gulliver and his travels to different places including Lilliput. The movie gives you a different take on the children's classical adventure, presented as the modernized version. The story is fun and entertaining. I would recommend watching it in 3D to fully appreciate the visual and special effects of the movie. Jack Black is outstandingly hilarious throughout the movie. He never fails to amuse the crowd with his wits and sarcastic tone, even his love for music. There are some scenes though and languages not intended for kids, but tolerable. I love how Lilliput is presented in the movie, from the surrounding to the people, to even the way they talk and act. You will notice the big difference between the society before and now. I enjoyed the movie, its very entertaining for the whole family.
