Tie a Yellow Ribbon for Tita Cory

Can’t believe she’s gone now. First there was Francis Magalona, then Michael Jackson. And now, Tita Cory.

I was awaken by a phone call and greeted me with the news that Former Pres. Corazon Aquino died already. It was sad, sad news I believe not only for me but for the whole Filipino people.

I was 2 years old when she led the people in the infamous People Power Revolution and successfully installed the first female president of the Philippines and was Asia’s first female president. I have always admired her devotion not only to her family but also to her faith and love of her country. My fingers and keyboard can go on like forever if we will talk about Tita Cory’s accomplishment and characters that make her the Tita Cory now.

She did not become just a president for the country but also a mother for every Filipino. Her personal advocate for peace and democracy encourage the Filipino people to do good and stand up for our country.

Thank you Tita Cory, for standing up for us. For leading us and guiding us into moral ways and being an example yourself with you unselfish devotion in reaching us through your humble ways.

You will always be remembered and will always be in our prayers. May you continue to smile, bright as the Yellow Sun that shines down on us, and be happy together with Ninoy in heaven.
