Disney Scores Big With Music of “WRECK-IT RALPH”

The story of an arcade-game bad guy who embarks on a quest to prove he's really a good guy, Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Wreck-It Ralph" journeys through wildly diverse arcade-game worlds, including the '80s-era, 8-bit video-game world of Fix-It Felix, Jr., the ultra-modern first-person shooter game Hero's Duty and the candy-coated cart-racing game Sugar Rush.

Helping to differentiate these worlds from one another are unique cinematography, animation, effects and music. "Music is another way to set the stage and make these worlds completely different," said producer Clark Spencer.

But not just any music. Filmmakers tapped diverse and unexpected artists to help tell the story. Composer Henry Jackman created the film's score, which is complemented by original songs and music from Skrillex, AKB48, Owl City and Buckner & Garcia.

Revenge Between Two Fathers in TAKEN 2

“TAKEN 2” braces for a down-to-the-wire action sequence between two fathers, one exacting revenge and the other trying to keep his family alive. Liam Neeson reprises his role as Bryan Mills, a CIA operative with an unmatched set of skills who is pitted against Murad (Rade Sherbedgia) who in turn is hell-bent on taking down Mills and the rest of his family for the death of his son in Bryan’s hands.

“TAKEN 2” reunites Neeson with his co-stars Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace, who play Bryan's estranged wife and his precious daughter. “Bryan's a total superhero,” says Janssen, weighing in on what made audiences connect with the first film. “TAKEN really came at a time when people needed that in their lives, because it's about family and protecting your family. He's a very American hero.”

As heard in “Taken 2’s” trailers, Murad’s line “He slaughtered our men, our brothers, our sons. We will find him. We will have our revenge,” sets the tone for his role as the movie’s lead villain. Acclaimed character actor Rade Sherbedgia takes on the role, which director Olivier Megaton promises is “a far cry from your typical bad guy. Murad is pursuing Bryan for a big and very fair reason, which is that he wants his justice for his son, who died at Bryan’s hand.”

"ARGO" A Hit at San Sebastian Filmfest

Critics and audiences at San Sebastian applauded Ben Affleck’s “Argo,” screening in the 60th San Sebastian International Film Festival’s Official competition, The Hollywood Reporter said. At the screening, the packed Kursaal auditorium erupted in applause at pivotal moments throughout the film — unusual at Spain’s A-list festival.

Affleck, accompanied by one of the film’s stars, Alan Arkin, addressed questions about the movie, the relationship between the United States and Middle East and the evolution of Hollywood since the 70s in addition to what his children thought about this shaggier 'do in the movie.

"My kids hated the hair. I told them I have to keep the hair like this for work," he shared. "And they said, 'Yeah, what kind of work would want you to keep that kind of hair?’ Out of the mouths of babes."

Affleck said his goal in making the film, which is based on a true story linked with the Iranian hostage crisis and a covert mission to sneak U.S. diplomats out of Iran, was to stick to the facts. "First of all, you’d never believe this story if it weren’t true," Affleck said. "But my goal was for it to be factual. I have friends that are Democrats and friends that are Republicans. I have friends that are Americans and those that live abroad. I wanted everyone to see it and be able to take something from it because it was based on facts."

“Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. Academy Award® winner Ben Affleck (“The Town,” “Good Will Hunting”) directs and stars in the film, which is being produced by Academy Award® winner George Clooney (“Syriana”), Oscar® nominee Grant Heslov (“Good Night, and Good Luck.”) and Affleck.

“THE THREE STOOGES” in Theaters on October 24

Peter and Bobby Farrelly, makers of knock-out comedies like “There’s Something About Mary,” “Dumb and Dumber” and “Shallow Hal” gas out another outrageous adventure comedy, “The Three Stooges.”

The Farrelly brothers, being introduced to the antics of The Three Stooges since kids following it on television has influenced their slew of blockbusters. Bringing it in to the contemporary setting recreating the classic and iconic Stooge sounds, the Farrelly brothers searched high and low for the right actors to play the Stooges and finally came upon Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" Main Poster Unveiled

Warner Bros., New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures have just unveiled the main one-sheet art for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the first of Peter Jackson's trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The three films tell a continuous story set in Middle-earth 60 years before “The Lord of the Rings,” which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.” The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities…

A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, with Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins, and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. Also reprising their roles from “The Lord of the Rings” in “The Hobbit” Trilogy are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. The international ensemble cast of the trilogy also includes (in alphabetical order) Manu Bennett, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Barry Humphries, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott and Aidan Turner.

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and the second and third films of the trilogy are productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), with New Line managing production. Warner Bros. Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television distribution being handled by MGM. “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” will be released in the Philippines on December 13, 2012, with the second film, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” releasing December 13, 2013, and the third film, “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” slated for July 18, 2014.

New Trailer of LIFE OF PI

ALL-NEW IMMERSIVE 3D “LIFE OF PI” FROM ANG LEE

Check out the movie's awesome and inspiring trailer.

Experience wonder and discover an unprecedented 3D experience in “LIFE OF PI” from Award-winning filmmaker Ang Lee based on the acclaimed bestselling book by Yann Martel starring first-time actor Suraj Sharma. Ang Lee returns home to Taiwan to make the exciting and altogether magical adventure “Life of Pi.”

Suraj Sharma is Pi, the titular character, a boy who is lost at sea with a very hungry Bengal tiger, following the death of his family in a shipwreck. The boy and the animal have to survive a perilous voyage across the Pacific. The film centers on Piscine Molitor Patel (Pi) named in honor of a swimming pool in France. He is raised in Pondicherry India with his family who run a zoo. An inquisitive and unusually philosophical boy, he learns about animal behavior at the zoo, explores different cultures and traditions and falls for a beautiful girl.

“Certain things happen politically and economically which force Pi’s parents to move to Canada and the family take their zoo with them on a ship. The ship sinks one stormy night and Pi’s whole family drowns,” said Suraj Sharma.

Ang Lee infuses Pi’s solitary voyage with emotion, humor and excitement in an all-new 3D experience. “I fell in love with the book when it came out but I did not think about it as a movie,” says the Oscar winning director of “Sense and Sensibility,” “Crouching Tiger,” “Hidden Dragon” and “Brokeback Mountain.”

He admits that he was initially reluctant to take on the project. “Later though I thought I wanted the audience to see this fantastic book made into a movie. I felt I needed to share Pi’s amazing voyage. So here I am. I have come all the way to Taiwan on a seemingly impossible mission which is now being realized. It’s a great adventure so far.”

To enhance the cinematic experience, the decision was made to shoot in 3D, “the scope of the story is grand, because of that I thought I needed another dimension. 3D really puts you there with Pi, demanding your attention. You feel like you’re with him. It’s a more intense experience. It’s more dense It’s closer, more intimidating,” shares Lee.

“Life of Pi” unfolds in (Phils.) cinemas nationwide on November 28 from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Mark Wahlberg Plays John Bennette in “TED”

Mark Wahlberg has played lethal hitmen, deadly snipers, intimidating cops, crusty sailors, hair-triggered soldiers and a championship boxer but in the new comedy "Ted," he plays a pot-head who ends up on the wrong side of a brawl with his best friend, a stuffed bear.

What was your best Christmas present?
One Christmas, when I was a little boy, I got a brand new bike. I convinced my parents and my brother that I already knew how to ride a bike. It was a really cold Christmas morning in Boston. They took me outside with my new bike and I was so excited. I got on the bike and they started pushing me. So, I’m going down the hill riding the bike but I had never ridden a bike before and I didn’t know how to stop. I ended up going over the curb and crashing into the chimney of someone’s house. After that, my brother was nice enough to put training wheels on the bike and I learned to ride over the next few months.

What did you first think of the idea behind TED?
When I first heard the original concept they told me the story was about this guy and his teddy bear that comes to life and the teddy bear starts running around acting crazy. I thought it wasn’t for me. Then I read the script and completely forgot about the whole teddy bear aspect and just thought it was a great relationship and friendship story.

Do you have the same sense of humor as Seth MacFarlane (Director)?
We have a similar sense of humor. His is a little more sophisticated and mine is more street.

What do you like about Seth?
Seth is the smartest and probably the funniest person I’ve ever met. He’s also a really likeable guy. Coming into the comedy world, aside from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, I’ve met a lot of people and some of them seem to have this kind of dark side to them, even though they appear to be very funny on TV or in movies. Seth is a very sweet, likeable guy and his humor comes from a nice place even though it might be offensive at times to certain people. He‘s not trying to offend. He just doesn‘t think there are any rules or boundaries.

DREAMWORKS’ 3D “THE CROODS”

“The Croods” is a prehistoric 3D comedy adventure from DreamWorks Animation to be distributed by 20th Century Fox that takes us back to the beginning of time. In a previously undiscovered era known as the Croodacious – we find the Crood family when Mother Nature was still experimenting and the flora and fauna we know today hasn’t evolved yet is where the story all began.

At the center of this world is the Crood family, led by Grug (voiced by Academy Award® winner Nicolas Cage), an over-protective father who, like all dads, is doing all he can to hold his family together at a time when cataclysmic changes are happening. Together with his wife (Catherine Keener), kids (Emma Stone and Clark Duke) and ornery mother-in-law (Cloris Leachman) in tow, Grug guides his family through this spectacular environment, full of amazing creatures, to find a new cave to call home. Along the way, they encounter Guy (Ryan Reynolds), an imaginative and resourceful newcomer who takes risks and wholeheartedly embraces the promise of tomorrow.

Inspired to tell a story of how a family survives during tough times, directors Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders set the story in a prehistoric frame when they don’t have to worry about bills, but is concerned on how they would adapt to the world changing before their very eyes. “This is the world’s first family road trip,” says De Micco while Sanders shares that “Our cavemen are very gifted, they can run 40 miles an hour, can throw a rock many many miles and very physically capable, but mentally we have a lot of beginner minds.”
