Horror Master DIRECTOR JAMES WAN Prepares “THE CONJURING”

Truth is stranger than fiction…and a lot more frightening. No one knew that better than Ed Warren and his clairvoyant wife, Lorraine, whose lifelong personal experiences combating inhuman forces garnered them respect in the field of demonology long before the immense popularity of the paranormal on the screen. And long before Ed and Lorraine tackled the foreboding menace in a little place called Amityville, they encountered the most perilous evil even they would ever come up against. This terrifying case is the subject of the new horrror film “The Conjuring” from New Line Cinema.

James Wan, who had known of the couple’s work prior to taking the directing reins of “The Conjuring,” relates, “I've always been a big fan of the Warrens. I really admire them. They pioneered the modern-day style of ghost hunting with technical equipment, capturing evidence on film and audiotape. Since they've inspired so many stories, books and films, it was cool to actually make a movie where who they are is as much the focus as the family’s home they are investigating.”

TOM CRUISE & EMILY BLUNT STARRER “EDGE OF TOMORROW” GETS FIRST LOOK AT COMIC-CON

“Edge of Tomorrow” has been announced as the title of the upcoming sci-fi thriller starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, directed by Doug Liman and based on the book All You Need is Kill. The movie, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, is set for release on June 6, 2014, and the first look at footage from the film will be unveiled by the Studio at this year’s International Comic-Con: San Diego on Saturday, July 20. The announcement was made today by Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Kroll stated, “We are extremely pleased to be able to give the Comic-Con audience, who’ve always been so supportive of us, the first peek at footage from ‘Edge of Tomorrow.’ The movie has all of us at the Studio very excited, and we can’t wait to see the reactions of fans who know and love the sci-fi genre so well.”

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Michelle Rodriguez : Fast and Furious in TURBO 3D

DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming action adventure movie “Turbo” starring Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michelle Rodriguez, Ken Jeong and Samuel L. Jackson is a mash-up of superhero and racing film genres.  It turns a garden snail into a mighty mollusk who travels at super-speed.

When we meet Turbo, he’s somewhat of an outcast in the snail community, which is less about big dreams and more about punching a time clock at their place of employment (and principal source of nourishment) – the [tomato] “plant.”   Leaving the plant behind, Turbo begins his journey to fulfill his dreams when he is swept from a freeway overpass onto the hood of a sports car, and is then propelled into the muscle car’s air intake valve.  Explosive nitrous oxide charges every atom of Turbo’s body, altering his molecular structure.  The freak accident infuses Turbo with incredible speed – he can reach 200 miles per hour – and he now blazes across the streets of Los Angeles like a neon bullet.

All Systems Go For "TURBO" 3D

Audiences love to root for courageous dreamers who pursue their goals when the odds are stacked firmly against them.   It’s a tradition that has stood the test of time and one that has a powerful appeal for filmmaker David Soren, who tells the story of an unusual underdog – or under snail –in the animated 3Dfilm, “Turbo.”

Voiced by Ryan Reynolds, Turbo dreams of being fast, fast enough to compete against champions in one of the world’s toughest car races.  Defying logic, physics, nature and critics (including his own brother) the small snail sets out on a thrilling adventure.

Director David Soren describes Turbo in the new movie from DreamWorks Animation, as the ultimate underdog’, for obvious reasons. “ Turbo is a snail and snails are constantly faced with challenges. They are smushed, salted and stepped on; they're eaten in some parts of the world,” says Soren who set his story in Southern California where he lives with his family. The filmmaker became fascinated with the snails he observed in his own front yard.  “Mother Nature has dealt them a bad hand,” he says. “When it seems impossible for a character to have any chance of success, that's exactly what makes a great underdog story. And that’s what it is like for Turbo.”

Pacific Rim Movie Review

When legions of monstrous alien creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end.  To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are synched via a neural bridge, called “The Drift.”  But as the enemy grows more powerful with each attack, even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.

On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a seemingly obsolete Jaeger.  Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

It was months ago when I learned about this movie. I thought to myself, another violent film for robot and alien fans alike, and that includes Angel.

When I was invited to watch the premiere, it was Angel who's more excited than anyone else in the theater and he talks about it a lot. I was just "Okay". But after the movie, it was me who talks about the movie alot!

"Physically, the human beings are the smallest thing in the movie, but their spirit is the largest thing in the movie.  They show you the makings of real heroes.”  - Del Toro

The movie showed not only epic battle scenes but also the becomings of a real hero. The intriguing premise of the sci-fi action adventure movie made it more interesting to watch. Imagine robots fighting off aliens. I'm not a geeky kind of person but the thought of apocalypse in our modern time is absurd yet something people would want to see and probably even anticipate. The epic battle scenes are really for me, heart racing scenes. The CGI are visually satisfying, its meant to be seen in IMAX.

The actors were not that internationally acclaimed but I like how well they acted of really thought of their roles specially Rinko and Charlie Day. You now know my favorite characters.

Manila was once again gets a special mention in a international film, this time as the second city attacked by Kaijus. It's something to be proud of, don't you think?

I couldn't tell you more or else I will spoil everything. Watch it now in IMAX 3D for a superb movie experience.

From ‘Bridesmaids’ to ‘Despicable Me 2’ Kristen Wiig shows her thousand faces and voices

The comedienne who brings life to Lucy is the same actor who played a pivotal role in Despicable Me.  The producers and directors were so delighted by Kristen Wiig’s work as Southern belle Miss Hattie, the acerbic orphanage matron in the first film, that they asked her back to play the female lead in this chapter.  Wiig explains how her participation in the project came about: “I was so happy that I was able to be in both films, and when I heard that they wanted me to play a different character in the second one, I was beyond thrilled that they would give me the opportunity.”

Steve Carell returns as Super villain Gru in Despicable Me 2

Steve Carell has returned as for Despicable Me 2  one of the world’s greatest super-villains, has given up his despicable ways and is now on a quest to become the perfect dad.  While juggling all that, he is recruited by a super-secret crime-fighting organization, which puts him in the unlikely position of having to work with the good guys to help save the world.  Usually fearless, Gru is now coping with the challenges of his girls growing up and wanting desperately to ask a woman out on a date.  Both of which cause him to totally freak out.

It's no surprise considering the first Despicable Me movie was a $542 million mammoth success - landing it among the top ten most successful animated films of all time.

What attracted Steve Carell to the role of the curmudgeonly, oddly-accented super-villain with a heart of gold was that Despicable Me offered something for children and adults alike.  He reflects upon why he chose to voice Gru, a character who finds that raising children is not all sunshine and lollipops: “I’m a parent with two little kids, and I identified with the story in the first film because it was honest in its depiction.  Having kids completely changes a person’s life, in all the best ways.”
